Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a colourless and virtually odorless gas for lessening pain and anxiety. It generally works well in children who have some degree of cooperation. Most children report feeling happy or feel like they are “floating or flying”. Nitrous oxide does not put children to sleep, but leads to a minimal sedation and light relaxation to increase comfort and tolerance for minimal procedures.

General Anesthesia
General Anesthesia is offered to patients who are much younger, fearful, have special health care needs, require extensive dental work, or have been unable to tolerate other sedation methods. Treatment is completed by Dr. Nancy Vertel and our team at Anesthesia For Dentistry (AFD) in Vancouver. General Anesthesia is the calming method where patients will be unconscious, unaware of pain, and relaxed during the entire procedure.
